Every item we serve is halal, with meat from halal-certified suppliers — HMC-approved butchers and JJ Foodservice’s halal-flagged lines. That matters more than it sounds for an office order: it means nobody on a mixed team has to check labels, ask awkward questions, or quietly skip lunch. One order covers the whole room. We also mark vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free items clearly, and vegan covers are charged at exactly the same rate as everything else.
Most corporate orders are delivered within a mile of the city centre, which covers the Colmore Business District, Brindleyplace, Snow Hill, the Jewellery Quarter, Paradise and the Mailbox. Delivery is free on orders over £100 in that radius.
How our catering pricing works
We price per head, not per platter, so the cost scales cleanly with your headcount and you are never paying for trays you do not need. The base rate covers the food, soft drinks and all disposables — plates, napkins, cutlery and serving tongs are always included, never billed separately.
From there you add only what you want. Fresh fruit and salad platters are £1.50 per head. A dessert selection of brownies, cookie bites and cake slices is £1.50 per head. A chai station with masala, karak and pink chai plus freshly brewed coffee is £2.50 per head. Individual boxed lunches instead of shared platters are £1.00 per head.
On-site set-up, where we lay everything out on your table and come back to clear away, is a flat £35. If you would rather your own team put it out at a moment that suits the agenda, delivery-only costs nothing extra and the food arrives covered and ready.
We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to any quote. The figure you see is the figure you pay. For companies that need one, we invoice against a purchase order and can send the invoice to your accounts team directly.
Buffet catering in Birmingham
Most of what we deliver is a buffet in the straightforward sense: shared platters set out on a table that people help themselves from. A Chai & Crumbs office buffet in Birmingham starts at £9.50 per head for sandwich and wrap platters with crisps and soft drinks, £11.50 per head once you add hot savouries like samosas, spring rolls and popcorn chicken, and £14.00 per head for a hot buffet built around smash burgers, chicken and rice, fish and chips and Spanish pitta.
A buffet for 20 people therefore costs £190 for sandwiches and wraps, £230 for the mixed spread, or £280 for hot mains. Fresh fruit and salad platters add £1.50 per head, a dessert selection £1.50, and a chai station £2.50. Plates, napkins, cutlery and serving tongs are included in every one of those prices, and there is no VAT because we are not VAT registered.
Every buffet platter arrives with a fitted lid and stays covered until you are ready to serve, which means it can be delivered and set down well before people eat. If you would rather not run a shared table at all, the same food can be packed as individual boxed lunches for £1.00 per head more. Delivering before lunch without the food sitting out
The most common worry we hear from office managers is that catering delivered at midday will be tired by the time anyone eats it at two. It is a fair concern and there are two ways we solve it.
Platter style means every tray arrives with a fitted lid and stays sealed until your team lifts the covers. The catering can sit on a side table well ahead of service with nothing exposed to the air. Individual boxes go a step further: each guest gets their own sealed, labelled box, so portions stay closed until the moment someone picks one up. For events where set-up has to happen an hour or more before people eat, boxes are usually the better answer.
Cold items are held in chilled storage at the cafe until the moment they leave, and we work to the Food Standards Agency Safer Food, Better Business standard for caterers. Salad dressings travel separately in pots rather than pre-dressed, so nothing goes soft in transit.
Catering for mixed teams and dietary requirements
When you book, tell us how your headcount splits across meat, vegetarian and vegan and we build to those exact numbers rather than guessing. A typical Birmingham office order runs around sixty per cent meat, twenty per cent vegetarian and twenty per cent vegan, but we have catered everything from entirely vegan away days to boardroom lunches with a single vegetarian.
Vegan food is prepared free of dairy and egg, boarded before any dairy is out, and kept on separate labelled platters. That includes the detail people forget: vegan spread rather than butter, hummus rather than mayonnaise, oil-based dressings rather than creamy ones, and vegan desserts where desserts are ordered.
