Chai & Crumbs was born from a simple idea: bring the rich chai culture of South Asia to Birmingham's high street. Our founder grew up watching her grandmother brew chai on the stove — cardamom crushed by hand, milk simmered low and slow, served with warmth and conversation.
That same family recipe is what we serve today. Every cup is brewed fresh, every dish is 100% halal, and every guest is treated like family. We're proud to be part of Birmingham's story — a city that celebrates diversity, community, and great food.

What is the best coffee shop in Birmingham city centre?
We’re obviously biased, so take this with a pinch of whole spice — but we think Chai and Crumbs is pretty special. We’re an independent halal cafe right in Birmingham city centre, brewing masala chai from a family recipe and serving specialty-grade coffee. We’ve been at it since 2019, same family, same recipe. Best just come and decide for yourself. You’ll find us at 2 Waterfront Walk, B1 1SZ.
Is the food at Chai and Crumbs halal?
Yes, all of it. There’s nothing non-halal on the menu — not a single item. Our meat comes from halal-certified suppliers: HMC-approved butchers and JJ Foodservice’s halal-flagged range. That goes for everything from the beef sausages in our full English to the chicken in our wraps.
What are the opening hours of Chai and Crumbs?
We’re open Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm. Saturdays we start a little later — 10.30am to 3pm. Sundays we’re closed. Come find us at 2 Waterfront Walk, Birmingham B1 1SZ, a short walk from Broad Street and Brindleyplace.
